Why 153?
It's probably the question I get asked most.
When people first hear the name 153 Real Estate, they almost always ask the same question: "Why 153? Why not 152 or 154? What's special about the number, 153?
The number 153 is found in a story in the Gospel of John, chapter 21:
This is how it happened. Several of the disciples were there—Simon Peter, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples.
Simon Peter said, "I'm going fishing."
"We'll come, too," they all said. So they went out in the boat, but they caught nothing all night.
At dawn Jesus was standing on the beach, but the disciples couldn't see who he was. He called out, "Fellows, have you caught any fish?"
"No," they replied.
Then he said, "Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you'll get some!" So they did, and they couldn't haul in the net because there were so many fish in it.
Then the disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, "It's the Lord!" When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his tunic (for he had stripped for work), jumped into the water, and headed to shore. The others stayed with the boat and pulled the loaded net to the shore, for they were only about a hundred yards from shore. When they got there, they found breakfast waiting for them—fish cooking over a charcoal fire, and some bread.
"Bring some of the fish you've just caught," Jesus said. So Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net to the shore. There were 153 large fish, and yet the net hadn't torn.
"There were 153 large fish, and yet the net hadn't torn."
That moment resonates with me because it reminds me that breakthrough often begins with humility — the willingness to listen, to remain teachable, and to consider a perspective we might otherwise overlook.
I think we've all had experiences like this. We've worked hard, done everything that seemed right, and still found ourselves empty handed and discouraged. It's easy to believe nothing will ever change. But sometimes all it takes is a little encouragement, a fresh perspective, and the faith to make one small adjustment. That's often where breakthroughs begin—not because everything changes, but because we're willing to take one more step.
There is another aspect of the story that has meaning for Coastal Orange County.
Some early Christian scholars believed that the number 153 represented every known kind of fish in the world at that time. Whether or not that was the Apostle John's original intention, the symbolism is powerful. The miraculous catch wasn't just about abundance — it represented everyone.
Every kind of fish. Every person. No one excluded.
That idea has become an important part of the philosophy behind 153 Real Estate.
We believe that every person deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and genuine care. Every client has a unique story, unique goals, and unique circumstances. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to buying or selling a home because there are no two people exactly alike.
That's why people come first.
Before the contracts...
Before the negotiations...
Before the marketing...
Before the transaction...
People come first.
Our purpose is not simply to sell real estate. Our purpose is to serve people.
That means taking time to listen before speaking, understanding your goals before offering advice, communicating honestly, and advocating for your best interests every step of the way.
Homes are important. Investments are important. But the relationships we build are even more valuable.
At 153 Real Estate, we measure success by more than closed transactions. We measure it by the trust we earn, the relationships we build, and the lives we have the privilege of serving.
It isn't about a number. It's about —
Perseverance when things aren't working.
Being willing to see opportunities from a different perspective.
Trust.
Serving people with excellence.
A daily reminder of the kind of real estate professionals we strive to be.
Whether you're buying a starter home or a dream home on the water our commitment remains the same: People first. Always.
The Principles Behind 153 Real Estate
The story of 153 isn't simply the inspiration behind our name—it's the standard we strive to live up to every day.
Real estate is about far more than contracts and transactions. It's about helping people make some of the most significant financial and personal decisions of their lives. Whether a client is purchasing their first home, selling a property filled with decades of memories, or investing in the next chapter of their future, our responsibility is to provide thoughtful guidance, honest advice, and unwavering professionalism.
That philosophy has been shaped by more than experience alone. Christopher is a fourth-generation real estate professional, continuing a family tradition that began when his great-grandmother and her sister owned and operated a real estate brokerage in Bronxville, New York. Combined with over 18 years of experience, military service in the United States Air Force, and graduate studies in the Psychology of Leadership, that legacy continues to influence how every client relationship is approached—with integrity, preparation, and genuine care.
At 153 Real Estate, success is measured by more than the number of homes sold. It's measured by trust earned, relationships built, and the confidence clients feel knowing someone is looking after their best interests. The hope is that long after the transaction is complete, people remember not just the outcome, but the way they were treated along the way.
Because while the name may begin with a story, its true meaning is found in the principles that guide every conversation, every negotiation, and every decision we make on behalf of our clients.
Let's Start the Conversation.
Whether you're buying, selling, or simply exploring your options — I'd be honored to help.
